Toda Institute for Global Peace and Policy Research
Toda.eNewsletter #1
7 August 2008
Dear of the Toda International Advisory Council (TIAC),
The Toda Institute would like to thank you for your ongoing support as a member of the International Advisory Council. In order to stay more closely connected we would like to send you a newsletter about once a month. Please feel free to unsubscribe at any time by replying to this email with the word unsubscribe in the subject line. If you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to let us know. Questions and comments sent to this email account will be responded to regularly and we always appreciate your input.
In this message, you will find an invitation to join our new TIAC discussion listserv, and as attachment, a short report on the Meeting of the Toda International Advisory Council (TIAC) that took place on 19 July 2008 in Leuven, Belgium.
Concerning the listserv, the general topics for discussion will be: What can the Toda Institute do in order to promote real change through research on nuclear abolition, UN reform and sustainable peace? What is the best way for the Toda Institute to enhance peace research and ensure the results have a concrete and positive impact on people, society, the world and the biosphere? How can the Toda Institute make a difference in the fields of human security, dialogue and global governance?
More specific topics will enable us to discuss the long-mid-and short-term strategic plans of the Toda Institute, for instance what kind of conference we could have in 2009.
We are fully aware that becoming a member of a large listserv is a serious commitment and will require a lot of time and energy from the participants. We therefore understand that only a few of you will be able to make that commitment.
First things first, please enjoy reading our report concerning the 19 July meeting, and send us a message letting us know if you would like to become an active participant in the TIAC discussion listserv. If you are not interested in being a member of the listserv, you do not need to respond. We will only add those who have expressed interest in participating. Again, we do not expect all of you to participate in the listserv and participation is in no way required. We do look forward to staying in closer communication in the future.
With best regards,
On behalf of the Toda Institute team,
Olivier Urbain, director
